Skill: Siemens Business Services (SBS, which is legally a company of its own, owned by Siemens) is a global full-service provider of information and communication technology solutions and services with annual sales of EUR 4.7 bn and 36,100 employees worldwide. Siemens Business Services is a part of Siemens Corporation’s Information and Communications segment. As a global full-service provider, Siemens Business Services offers the complete Consult-Design-Build-Operate-Maintain chain of services. Siemens Business Services is one of the world’s leading suppliers of IT services. C-LAB (since the beginning of 2001, part of Siemens Business Services) will carry out the work in PLASTIC. C﷓LAB was founded in 1985 and is the joint research and development laboratory operated by Siemens and Paderborn University. The general working domain of C-LAB is "co-operative computing & communication“, comprising the domains of both applications and technologies for computing. SBS C-LAB has extensive experience with respect to European projects, and has been leader or partner in several research projects in the relevant domain, e.g., SBS is the project coordinator of the FP6 STREP UBISEC.

Role: SBS will contribute to the development of the PLASTIC middleware and will focus on the context-aware service management and means to ensure the correct interplay of different services.

CVs of key persons:

Heinz-Josef Eikerling got his diploma in computer science from Paderborn University in 1992. Subsequently, he joined the computer science departments at Paderborn University and the University of Tübingen. In 1996 he received the Dr. rer. nat. from Paderborn University for his research conducted in the area of electronic design automation. In 1996 he went to the semiconductors division (now Infineion Technologies) of the Siemens AG (Munich) where he was contributing to the setup of semi-custom design flows. In 1997 he joined Mettenmeier GmbH (Paderborn) for working in the area of geographical information systems. Since 1997 he is with Siemens IC C-LAB where is leading the distributed interactive systems group. Within this most recent position he was working on commercial and publicly funded projects with a research focus on distributed/mobile computing, middleware, media processing. Among those are the 4th framework MATES project, 5th framework EColleg project where he acted as the exploitation manager and the EUREKA ITEA project VHE Middleware in which he was acting as the project leader. Currently, he is the project coordinator of the 6th framework project UBISEC (Ubiquitous Networks with a Secure Provision of Services, Access, and Content Delivery).

Siegfried Bublitz worked for different universities (Bielefeld, Frankfurt) and different companies (Philips Semiconductors, Nixdorf Computer, Siemens Nixdorf, Siemens, Siemens Business Services) after his diploma degree in mathematics. He worked in different areas ranging from theoretical computer science over design of semi-custom chips, simulation related programming and coupling of simulators, to product data management systems and collaborative engineering environments / portals. With respect to his assignments he obtained extensive background in the conceptual design and implementation of software, training (of several computer languages and software development environments) and consulting. Currently, he is working on concepts and solutions for service-oriented software architectures targeting mobile maintenance scenarios.
