Contact person: István Forgács

Skill: 4D SOFT is an SME with 30 employees. 4D SOFT Ltd. has two profiles: development of integrated component-based software systems, and research in areas that can be used in the development of such systems: Software Engineering and Testing tools. The clients of 4D SOFT Ltd. come from the banking, insurance, trade and patent/trademark business. 4D SOFT covers the whole development process from the consulting to creation of a business model, from software design to introduction of the system, maintenance and integration of new demands. 4D Soft is one of the two companies in Hungary dealing with test outsourcing. Based on our professionals' theoretical and practical knowledge we improved the testing processes at different leading Hungarian companies. Since the systems created by 4D SOFT are used for a long time and they are permanently updated, the other scope of research is Software Engineering and Software Quality management. 4D SOFT participates in the research and implementation of testing tools such as General Java Tester, a unit testing tool. 4D SOFT's key product is Panorama Analyser that is a unique tool by which unpredictable dependences in very large COBOL code can be revealed. This is very useful in the case of migration, program comprehension and regression testing. 4D SOFT has several grants financed by both the EU and Hungary. CREG++ is C++ version of Panorama Analyser, but dynamic regression testing is also addressed. JARTA is a Java version of 4D SOFT’s analyser, and will be ready in the summer of 2005.

Role: 4D SOFT's test team will bring its research and practical expertise to the PLASTIC project in the areas of software validation, especially in test planning, component-based testing and developing testing tools.
